About Beech Hill Community Campsite
At this peaceful mid-Devon community, a group of environmentally-minded folk share land, resources and responsibilities—and welcome campers to experience a slice of their low-impact lifestyle. You'll pitch on secluded grass beneath leafy beech trees, next to an apple orchard and vegetable gardens that supply the community. The setting is gorgeous, though facilities are intentionally simple: composting toilets, solar- and gas-powered showers, and a communal outdoor kitchen with two hobs, running water and cooking kit. Evenings often revolve around the firepit, swapping stories with fellow guests.
Beech Hill sits a five-minute walk from the Two Moors Way, linking Dartmoor and Exmoor (both around 45 minutes' drive), with miles of trails through farmland and woodland—heaven for walkers and four-legged friends. Stock up at the community store in Kennerleigh (10 minutes' drive) or skip cooking altogether and stroll half an hour to the pub in Morchard Bishop. It's an excellent base for exploring Devon's wild spaces, and the ethos here feels genuinely heartfelt rather than performative.

Myself and my family go camping every year to celebrate my birthday and this campsite was the best one so far. There was a laid back atmosphere and we felt welcome and at ease from the moment we arrived. We were able to choose to pitch up where ever we wanted and the grounds were unique, characteristic and charming. The camp kitchen was one of the best I've seen with plenty of gas, a chiller, ample seating room, adjacent BBQ. Compost toilets were very tastefully done, the craftsmanship, decoration and build was fantastic. Showers were great as well, with hot water, plenty of changing room and a real unique feel. The facilities were perfect. Thanks to Beech Hill Community for making our stay a very positive one and we will definitely be back!

We camped here for 3 nights and it was lovely. You can pitch your tent amongst the orchard trees and there are all the facilities you could need- 2 clean outdoor showers and toilets, fire pit, under cover camp kitchen with benches and cooking facilities. All set within a beautiful landscape and hosted by lovely people !

Such a beautiful, secluded spot. Loads of camping pitches tucked away in the orchard/paddock, so you really feel private. With compost toilets, generous showers, and a lovely outdoor kitchen, wash up, couches, hangout. Plus a fire pit. Connected to wonderful community of people you can choose to interact with, or not. The perfect place for our family holiday weekend, despite the slightly drizzly weather.

I camped at Beech Hill as part of a community organised event. Despite it being a busy weekend, there was plenty of room for all the campers and camper vans to spread out between the trees on the orchard site giving a sense of calm and tranquillity. The amenities were superb, warm showers, a well equipped field kitchen and a compost loo with a view! Two nights were nowhere near enough, I'd like to have stayed much longer. I would thoroughly recommend this site for both walkers on the trail or those looking for a base to explore this beautiful part of the country.
