About Lickham Bottom Camping
Tucked between ancient woodlands in the Blackdown Hills National Landscape, Lickham Bottom Camping offers 13 acres of meadows and forest just minutes from Hemyock. Pre-pitched bell tents are generously spaced across a four-acre meadow, each with its own wooden 'Donkey Closet' housing a composting loo, sink and outdoor hot shower. Your private kitchen tent comes fully equipped with gas stove, kettle and cookware, while outside there's a firepit for alfresco cooking under the stars.
The site feels wonderfully secluded – you can wander the woodlands spotting deer, buzzards and owls, with walking routes spreading out across this designated landscape. For an additional fee, book the traditional pizza oven tucked away in the trees. One practical note: you'll need to bring your own bedding and towels, as linens aren't provided. It's a small detail in an otherwise beautifully simple setup that lets the Blackdown Hills do the talking.

What a place to holiday! If you're looking to get off the grid but also keep some home comforts, this is the place. The Yurt was really spacious and comfortable with a log burner for extra heat, the kitchen area was well sheltered and fully stocked for cooking nice meals, the toilet was lovely and clean with a great outdoor shower as a highlight (even in the rain), but the best bit for us was the outdoor pizza oven, for £15 Penny will show you how to fire it up and provide the wood, it's a great activity to do with all the family, put your phones down, roll your sleeves up and embrace your Italian side in the woods. Great host and a fantastic location.
