About Lower Larkworthy Farm

The Ellacott family have farmed this hidden Devon corner for five generations, and their handful of camping pods offer a genuine taste of rural life on a working farm. You'll wake to grazing cows, sheep and ponies, with stunning countryside rolling away in every direction – the north Devon coast and Dartmoor's edge are both half an hour's drive when you're ready to explore further afield.

Each pod comes properly kitted out with a double bed, heating, TV, ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette (cooker, fridge, kettle, toaster), so you're not roughing it despite the rural setting. Outside, your deck has a picnic table and barbecue for alfresco meals with a view. The farmhouse and barns have been thoughtfully renovated, preserving the heritage of this five-generation homestead.

Holsworthy is ten minutes north for town amenities, Launceston fifteen minutes south, while Ashwater village – with its shop and pub – sits just a couple of miles away for essentials and a local pint.

We had a lovely stay at Meadow View. We had views of the animals straight from our window. Ian was brilliant and went out of his way to show us around the farm. We were lucky to enough to see one hour old twin calves. Ian also took us out to see Freddie the bull. He is so knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend a visit to this peaceful spot.

We had a great time at Meadow View, spotlessly clean, well stocked, comfortable bed and fantastic shower. The owners are very kind and welcoming, and it was a pleasure to be around so many lovely animals. We hope to return in future :)

We had a wonderful stay here and the house was perfect. The property (belonging to Ian the farmer) is 5 star and we'd love to return one day. It was perfect for us as downstairs and outside was all accessible for a wheelchair user, with a wet room too, and the kids had loads of space to play. Especially loved the play area and hot tub! The kids loved seeing the animals too. It was wonderful, a spacious stunning property!

Anna and lan were excellent. Our windscreen crashed on our way to Cornwall, and they did everything to help us. They even offered to take us to the farm from the road while we were waiting for the recovery. Thanks to a garage recommended by lan, we've managed to fix our car, and we can continue our holidays. The place itself was great. The barn conversion is done well, with a fully equipped kitchen (including a washer and dryer) and a patio with a great meadow view. I enjoyed my morning coffee there. This is an excellent base if you want to see everything by driving to a new place daily.
