About Markstone Farm Caravan and Camping

When you next find yourself hankering for fab West Country views, clear your schedule and zip down to Devon for a stint at Markstone Farm, a family-run farm site on the edge of the South Hams. Peace and quiet here are assured by a rural location and status as a total kid-free zone – without any under-18s around, your sweet repose in all that gorgeous green space should be blessedly undisturbed.

Any younglings you do spot roaming the farm will be of the four-legged variety, with Aberdeen Angus calves and woolly-faced Dorset lambs bounding around the fields in spring. This welcoming spot keeps things simple with non-electric grass pitches and a well-kept toilet block, plus campfires and barbecues are positively encouraged.

Make Markstone Farm your base if you intend to venture around south Devon's splendid seaside towns – both Kingsbridge and Salcombe can be reached by road within 20 minutes, with jaunts to pretty villages like Bigbury and Bantham also on the cards. Scoop up snacks at Aveton Gifford stores (five minutes), where there's also a village watering hole for pub-cooked dinners.

Lovely welcome from Cathy with scones, jam & cream. The toilet facilities were exceptionally clean. Good location for visiting the coast and Dartmoor

Stayed for the last weekend. When you arrive you see a field on a farm with a toilet....but once you have properly arrived you find out that you have booked into a very, very special place. It's nature that you are able to enjoy, beautiful views, the kind of peace that seems long lost. Cathy is the most welcoming host and her scones that she generously provides upon arrival will be the best you will have had the pleasure to taste.... we will be back. But this time for an additional night!

Cathy was very welcoming and brought us scones, cream and jam. Never had that welcome from a campsite before. Beautiful campsite with fantastic views. Kingsbridge was a nice place to visit. Will definitely be going back to Markstone Farm.

Lovely location that is central to visiting wonderful Devon beaches, towns and natural landmarks. Excellent hospitality and genuinely wanted to help us have a lovely holiday. We stayed in their field in a camper van with tent awning on this working farm.
