Just got home from a magical stay at the Rainbow Retreat. I took my children and several of their friends for a 12th birthday celebration. Usually, travelling alone with kids comes with some worries which evaporated when we arrived and met the owners Luke and Sammy and their small child. I felt I could have called on them for anything. and they weren't fazed at all at the thought of 10 children rocking up. The woodland site is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Lots of birdsong. Each pitch is tucked away in its own area. There is a viewing platform/ seating area with panoramic views of the woodland. The kitchen was also overlooking this view, and we used it a lot to cook and to hang out. The kids loved the fire pit, the kitchen and playing games like 'Capture the flag'. They also loved the little cute additions like light -up toadstools, and hanging out in the hammocks. While the kids played, I wandered off and found great places to sit and read a book in nature with coffee from the kitchen. We took a taxi from Exeter and other parents dropped off; nobody had any problems finding it. Thank you guys for making my daughter's 12th bday one to remember: we will definitely be back!

Not a good campsite at all. When we came there it was a Total mess, nothing was clean and it was like people had been living there for weeks and then left out of nowhere, left their mess and it did not get cleaned. Also the pitches are really overgrown with high grass and there was literally no one there. Not even the owner of the campsite. It looked haunted and was not nice to stay at.

Loved this place so much. Had such a warm welcome and Luke couldn't do enough to help. Very secluded (and flattened) camping spots, in the hills with fire pits. Lovely kitchen overlooking the wooded valley. The compost loo was clean and they even had spray to clean the seat! Thank you I'll be back :)

We stayed with four kids and two adults for two nights in the Safari Tent and had a wonderful time. The campsite is serene and beautiful. The beds are comfortable, the tent has a kitchen area with a cooker and cutlery. There are tables, chairs and even a sofa. The shower is good and the compost toilet is clean. Luke and Sammie are very friendly and welcoming. It’s close to Exeter but feels a world away from the city.
