About Wildswim2sauna
Tucked into eight acres of riverside meadow on a 140-acre South Devon estate, Wildswim2sauna revolves around a simple pleasure: plunging into the River Avon. The site's raison d'être is wild swimming, with direct access to a beautiful stretch of water framed by AONB scenery and glimpses of a 12th-century farmhouse. Afterwards, warm up in the wood-fired sauna or hire a hot tub – a dash of indulgence that lifts this otherwise off-grid experience above typical wild-camping spots. All pitches are non-electric grass, well-spaced and river-facing, with campfires allowed and barbecues provided.
Facilities stay simple: a well-kept composting-loo block and little else on site, though some guests mention the toilet facilities can feel a bit basic. The real draw is location – Salcombe lies 25 minutes away, and the owners run mackerel-fishing trips, sea swims and coastal cruises from there. Modbury and Kingsbridge (both 15 minutes) cover supplies. It's a peaceful, family-friendly base for swimmers, walkers and anyone after a proper taste of rural Devon.

What visitors say
This is a gorgeous, secluded, spacious camp site with the added advantage of a beautiful (swimmable) riverside location and wood-fired sauna & hot tub. However, the rest of the 'facilities' leave a lot to be desired, especially given the high (£40/night) price point. The 'toilet' in the tent camping field is not in a usable condition, meaning a 5-10min walk to the basic drop toilets in the main field (of which there are just two for the entire large site). There is NO POTABLE WATER available and no shops nearby, meaning you MUST truck in as much water as you're going to need. There are no shower, washing-up, recycling or cooking facilities. I would really expect a bit more effort at this price point, that said the location and setting are hard to beat.

Hands down one of the most unique venues we’ve ever shot at. The wild swimming, the wood-fired sauna, and the peaceful, off-grid energy gave the whole day a serene, grounding vibe. Would recommend to any couple wanting something different and meaningful. The couple we photographed had their ceremony underneath the tree and it looked incredible.

A difficult place to drive too ! Very remote...so if it's ur thing ur in for a treat. Service wasn't the best for a wedding though we made most of a d enjoyed the beautiful day. Host could of been more professional!
