About Dart Marina Hotel

Dart Marina occupies a stretch of riverbank between Dartmouth's marina and the open water of the Dart, about ten minutes on foot from the town's embankment and narrow medieval streets. The setting is the point: the river is busy with yachts, ferries and the occasional naval vessel from Britannia Royal Naval College on the hill above, and the hotel's frontage takes it all in.

Bedrooms are contemporary rather than traditional, with a good proportion having balconies or terraces facing the water. Room grades run from smaller garden-facing doubles up to suites, and the difference in outlook is significant, so paying up for a river view is usually money well spent here. The spa has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and treatment rooms, and there is a gym.

The restaurant looks out over the marina and cooks a modern British menu built around South Devon produce, with fish landed at Brixham a short drive away. There is also a more relaxed bar and terrace for lighter meals. Parking is on site, a genuine advantage in a town where the public car parks fill by mid-morning in season.

It works best for couples and for older families who do not need play facilities. Dartmouth itself is one of the most rewarding bases in the county: the castle guards the river mouth, the Dartmouth Steam Railway runs along the coast to Paignton, passenger ferries cross to Kingswear, and the coast path towards Blackpool Sands and Slapton Ley is close by. Out of season the hotel is noticeably better value and the town stays open, which is not true everywhere on this coast.

This hotel sets the standard for how coastal hotels should operate these days. No unnecessary frills and up charges, but everything is done well and thoroughly. Great to see a breakfast done without a buffet, with a large number of local staff who were cheerful and helpful throughout my stay. Rooms are good, decor is well done, public areas relaxing and well looked after. Very pleased and unsurprised to see so many repeat visitors.

We had a fantastic weekend at the hotel. The staff are professional, courteous, helpful and always smiling. This will be our go to hotel for future breaks. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. Restaurant for breakfast and dinner was perfect. Great menus well presented food. The staff here are excellent. Great welcome each time. The bar area is comfortable and very welcoming.

A great experience from start to finish. To be fair, we arrived by boat - you cannot book a berth but the marina team were super helpful in making sure we got one, calling several times to confirm it. The marina itself is first class. FYI it is also very easy to book harbour births - none of which are expensive (as a hotel guest we paid £22 for an 8 meter - harbour was £23). The hotel then received us and all staff without exception were super friendly and helpful. Great bar and food areas - a lot of external spaces but everything with views of the super beautiful Dart estuary. The rooms - really well designed - quite New England and with amazing views/terraces. We only had breakfast - again this was first class in terms of quality, service and offering. For anybody not familiar with Dartmouth, the town centre and shops are very close (5-10 minutes walk estuary side! Genuinely, one of the best hotel experiences I have had recently.

A really high quality hotel, situated in a quiet area of town, with beautifully appointed rooms, which have balconies overlooking the River Dart. Our bed was super comfortable and breakfast was table service and freshly cooked. We received a lovely warm welcome and help with our cases, from Ali and Maxi and service throughout our stay was excellent, in every respect. Parking is free and there is plenty to do in Dartmouth, which offers many independent shops, great pubs and restaurants, opportunities for a varitey of river trips and plenty of local walks. Highly recommended!
