About Fluxmere Glamping Retreat

Fishing, football, firepit evenings, fabulous walks… if you've got any of these in mind for your north Dorset break, Fluxmere Glamping Retreat will be a firm favourite. This tiny, off-grid site near Child Okeford spreads across seven acres but hosts only a handful of glamping units, giving each pitch generous space and genuine seclusion.

The well-equipped yurts come with proper beds, private kitchenettes, log burners and outdoor firepits (doubles as a BBQ if you fancy cooking over flames). Solar panels keep fridges, lights and chargers running. Beyond the accommodation, there's a large fishing lake free for guests to use, nature areas where ducks and peacocks roam, and a play field with football goals, swings, mud kitchen and trampoline – low-tech fun that children love. The modern shower block earns consistent praise for being spotless with powerful hot water.

The village pub, organic café and shop are all walkable; for wider provisions, Sturminster Newton and Blandford Forum lie fifteen minutes away by car.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Fluxmere Glamping over the bank holiday weekend. I took my wife and our 2-year-old daughter for her very first outdoor experience, and I’ll admit—I was a bit apprehensive about how she’d take to it. I needn’t have worried at all… she absolutely loved every minute! The yurt offered such a wonderful sense of privacy, which made it feel like our own little escape. At the same time, it was fully equipped with every comfort you could think of—our own kitchen with a cooker and fridge, plus a private BBQ pit, which made everything so easy and enjoyable. There was plenty to keep our little one entertained too. She especially loved the play shed filled with toys, the trampoline, and seeing the beautiful peacocks roaming around. Feeding the fish in the stunning lake was another magical moment for her—it really made the experience special. The landscape itself is breathtaking—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect place to unwind. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Evenings were a real highlight—sitting by the campfire under the stars, followed by a cosy night’s sleep. And I have to mention the shower and toilet facilities—they were spotless, modern, and genuinely impressive, far exceeding expectations for a glamping site. All in all, it was a perfect family getaway. Our daughter had the best time, and seeing her enjoy it so much made it even more special for us. We can’t wait to come back!

Just got back from a weekend at Fluxmere Glamping and we had the best time! We stayed in the yurt called Maple – the bed was incredibly comfortable with a memory foam mattress, and everything we needed was there. It’s all been so well thought out. The little shed with the kitchenette was perfect for making breakfast in the mornings, and having the fire pit included meant we could enjoy barbecues both nights. The weather was amazing too, which made it even better! We all took our kids, and honestly the best part of the whole trip was no iPads, no screens – they just played. Trampoline, swings, exploring nature, fishing, watching the birds… it was so lovely to see. It’s ideal for a family getaway or hiring a few yurts and going with friends (which is what we did). The toilet block is fantastic – the shower was better than the one I have at home! Highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful place and would 100% recommend. From the unique decorated Yurts, fully functional kitchen, bbq, log burners and lovely new shower block with wash rooms and clean hot showers. Everything has been thought of and Alex the host could not be more helpful. Great for families, group of friends or couples. A wonderful place with peacocks wandering and the birds singing, loads of fish in the lake and so much on offer. The grandkids loved the nature trail and trampoline and being free to roam but safe.

What an amazing place set in a wonderful tranquil spot. My wife and I stayed with our daughter in Twiggy the Safari tent and probably had the best nights sleep of our lives - clean, cosy, comfy - perfect! We enjoyed breakfast on the spacious outside decking area listening to bird song and the caw of Dave the peacock who we had the pleasure of meeting a few times! We were also lucky enough to see a deer! The lake is stunning and a really special feature with its lily pads and irises. Thank you Alex and family - you were wonderful hosts and we will definitely be staying again!
