About Lanscombe Lane Camping

Dorset bound and looking for a peaceful rural hideaway away from the crowds? This back-to-basics, family-run site is tucked away on a working smallholding within 20 minutes' drive of historic Dorchester and 35 minutes from Weymouth beaches. Stays are on a gently sloping field with woodland edges and views across the hills – the sort of place where birdsong is the wake-up call and nights are peaceful beneath dark, starry skies.

Dogs are welcome, and you can keep their exercise regime up with scenic countryside strolls from your pitch, including a 20-minute walk to the pub in Buckland Newton for a decent pint of Dorset cider. If the kids (or indeed you) fancy meeting the resident goats, sheep and hens, just ask the owners – fresh eggs are often available for breakfast fry-ups.

Simple facilities include fresh water, waste disposal and plenty of space to stretch out. There are no designated pitches, so you can set up wherever you fancy. The owners kindly ask that you respect the land and leave no trace – that includes keeping campfires and barbecues off the ground to protect the grass.

Had a brilliant weekend here for our annual Dads and Kids Camping trip. Stunning views and a perfect location for a family getaway. Field felt secure so the kids could run around and look at the animals while the dads relaxed. The toilets and showers were clean and well-maintained. A lovely weekend from start to finish. We'll definitely be back!

A Rural Dorset Gem! Landscombe Lane Camping was the perfect spot for our weekend getaway. Although the site is nestled in a small, quaint village in the Dorset countryside, it was easy to find and well-signposted. The views of the rolling English countryside are beautiful, accompanied by a tranquil soundtrack of birds, bees, and nearby cows, sheep and goats. Having that early morning cup of coffee while taking in the scenery was just the ticker. The amenities were practical and immaculate: The Ablution Block: Features four very clean toilets, all equipped with mirrors, shelves, and hooks. One room includes a hot shower, which was an absolute godsend! Outside the main block, there is a butler sink with running water (perfect for washing up) and an easily accessible chemical waste disposal point. Fire pits and firewood are available on-site, and you can park your car right next to your tent. Things We Loved: - The kids absolutely loved interacting with the goats, sheep, and Bob the cat! - Being able to park right next to our tents made unloading a breeze. - Fire pits are allowed (as long as they are raised off the ground), adding that classic camping atmosphere. - The tap water is completely drinkable, and the toilets are so clean and tidy that it felt like glamping. - The Host, Gemma, the owner, is incredibly lovely and welcoming. The stay was fantastic, but if we had to suggest one improvement, it would be adding a small play center or a rope swing to keep the children entertained. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this site!

We had an amazing time over the weekend! Gemma was a great host! We were able to camp all together as a big group of 9 so it was perfect. Will definitely come again!

We had such a lovely time at Lanscombe Lane Camping a few weeks ago! The whole experience was fantastic, and it was so nice to get away to such a peaceful and beautiful spot. The highlight for us was definitely getting to see the goats. I absolutely love them, and it was a real treat to have them on site. It made the stay feel extra special and memorable. The campsite itself was wonderful—clean, well-kept, and had everything we needed. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
