Warning! A trip to ancient Cerne Abbas may leave you with a mammoth yearning never to leave. This famously desirable Dorset village sits eight miles from Dorchester, within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast and, most notably, home to the 180ft Cerne Abbas Giant sprawled across the hillside in all his anatomically frank glory.
A 40-minute stroll from the village brings you to Giants Head Caravan & Camping Park, a family- and dog-friendly site spread over three and a half acres with grassy pitches and sweeping views across the Dorset countryside. Countryside walks and treasure trails literally start from your pitch—the park runs Treasure Trails Dorset directly from site, offering 50+ trail packs for families keen to hunt hidden gems. The setting is kept refreshingly natural with mature trees, hedgerows and trim lawns; pitches are variously secluded, shady or open, all well-drained with hard road access. A special tail-wagging area welcomes campers with canines.
Facilities cover the essentials—showers, basins, laundry and washing-up areas—though there's no on-site shop. Happily, Cerne Abbas (a mile and a quarter away) offers a well-stocked village store, tearoom and three pubs to keep you supplied.

We had a fantastic stay at this caravan site over the Easter weekend and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Caroline met us in the office and personally showed us to our pitch, taking the time to make sure we were completely happy and settled in. It was a lovely, friendly touch that really set the tone for our stay. The facilities were absolutely spotless throughout—clearly very well looked after and maintained to a high standard, which made a big difference to our overall experience. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional level of care and kindness we received when we ran into an issue on the day we were leaving. Unfortunately, we discovered we had a flat tyre and quickly realised we were stuck, as it was Bank Holiday Monday and none of the local tyre shops were open or had the right size available. We were understandably quite stressed, but Caroline went above and beyond to help us. She called around several local garages trying to find a solution, and when that didn’t work, she pulled in a favour from a friend who deals in caravans. Amazingly, he drove an hour to the site with the correct wheel and it was fitted for us on the spot—and at a very reasonable price too. This level of customer service is incredibly rare and made what could have been a very difficult situation so much easier for us. The owners are lovely people who clearly care about their guests. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and will definitely be back in the future. Highly recommended!

Brilliant campsite, family and dog friendly. Facilities were fantastic and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay here, staff were wonderful. Our favourite member of staff has 100% got to be Andy. Such a lovely man very helpful and chatting with the most cutest dog. Would highly recommend staying here. 🏕️

The most incredible relaxing camp site we know. You can just chill out and relax. We really enjoy the camp fires and relaxing evenings. The views are lovely. Caroline, the owner , is wonderful. She is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Toilets are just being updated. They are going to look amazing when finished. A real little gem.
