Downwood - Glass House

Photo: DownWood Holidays

Downwood – Glass House is a one-bedroom retreat built almost entirely of glass, positioned to frame the surrounding landscape. You arrive into an open-plan living space where the kitchen, dining area and sitting room flow together without barriers, and that glass wall dominates the experience – light floods in from morning onwards, and at night the arrangement inverts, turning the interior into a glowing focal point visible from the garden. The bedroom holds a double bed, the shower room has a double shower, and everything on the ground floor connects without stairs or corridors. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all covered; the kitchen is fully equipped if you want to cook.

The garden is enclosed and private, with seating areas and a gas barbecue for outdoor meals. The hot tub sits here too, positioned so you can use it in daylight or under the stars, depending on the season and time of day. Parking for two cars is provided on site. The property does not permit smoking.

Blandford Forum lies nearby, giving access to Dorset's countryside and – within a reasonable drive – the Jurassic Coast. Muddy Monkies Forest School is a local landmark if you're exploring the area with children, and countless walking routes thread through the surrounding hills.

Downwood is lovely. Me and my bf stayed for 2 nights. He loved the jacuzzi. We both enjoyed the bbq and the space inside was perfect - clean, modern, comfortable. Tv was working great too - Netflix and all the usual good apps like bbc and itv. Gas cooker was great! We went to Bournemouth beach one day, was only 45 mins drive. Beautiful beach. This location is so perfect too, because it’s countryside but there plenty shops and takeaways around. Highly recommend

Wow what can I say apart from exceptional. Me and my partner booked a last minute weekend away. Grace was so welcoming in her communication and it was very apparent how important it was for her to make sure from start to finish we had a lovely time/experience. The apartment was lovely, clean and had everything we needed. The views and grounds are stunning and the hot tub was amazing. We arrived feeling very tense from busy lives and honestly we left feeling like we had been to a retreat. We’ve shown friends our photos and they were also wowed. Thank you and we will Definately be back 💫🙏🏼

Me and my partner had a really lovely time at the Glass house. It was our first anniversary and the Glass house complimented it beautifully. The room is very spacious and the decor/furniture was beautiful. The hot tub was a massive bonus and relaxing. Would definitely recommend and come back. Hosts were responsive and helpful.

We had a lovely stay at the stillness cottage, it was clean, warm and well presented. It felt like a home away from home. We loved an evening dip in the hot tub. The bed was very comfortable, it was hard to get my young daughter out of it! The fact we could take our little dog along with us was the cherry on the top! Thank you and we look forward to returning!
