The Cow Shed is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage sleeping four, set within The Courtyard Craft Centre in Poole. The whole property is yours alone, and one dog or cat can stay at no extra charge. Everything is on the ground floor: an open-plan living and dining space with a woodburner, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, and two double bedrooms each with their own ensuite or bathroom. Bed linen, towels, heating and wifi are covered; you'll also find the woodburner's initial fuel already loaded.
The layout works well for two couples or a family. Behind the property, a private garden has a sitting area and barbecue. You can park on site, and there's a bike store if you're planning to explore the surrounding countryside on two wheels. Smoking is not permitted inside.
The Courtyard location means you're close to independent shops, cafes and galleries. Dorset's beaches, the New Forest, and dozens of walking routes are within easy reach for a weekend or longer break.

10/10, fabulous menu catering for vegans, vegetarians and celiacs, as well as carnivores! Tea is served in a pot with a jug of hot water to top up! Coffee was fab and the gluten free cake was amazing. popped in for lunch the next day and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommended!

We cycled to The Cowshed for brunch on a Friday. Arrived at 10am, already pretty busy! Sat outside in the courtyard which was lovely. There’s umbrellas to shade you from the sun. There’s places to put your bikes just outside of the courtyard area. It’s table service and the staff here are fantastic! I haven’t experienced such good customer service here in Dorset in a long time. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff are polite and attentive. We had the avocado on toast and the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Both were scrumptious and very well priced. Additional add-ons were also fairly priced. Coffee is excellent. Toilets were clean and the decor is lovely. There’s some independent businesses within the courtyard area too that you can check out. We will be back!

Had such a lovely visit! We chose to sit outside, which made the whole experience even more lovely with the sun, the atmosphere was relaxed with soft music playing in the background. The staff were incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly, which really made a difference. The food was absolutely spot on, we ordered toasties, I had a cheese, Serrano ham, and hot honey it was incredible. Everything was 10/10 and I genuinely couldn’t fault it. There’s plenty of seating available and it’s great to see the space is accessible too, making it welcoming for everyone. What started as a quick stop turned into a much longer, more enjoyable outing, we ended up exploring the surrounding yard and all the lovely little shops nearby. A really great spot and well worth a visit!

Came for Lunch service: 12 - 3pm. Fish finger sandwich (pictured) served on veeeery soft white bloomer sarnie bread, the texture gets a bit lost. Great amount of pickle in the sandwich, there’s sometimes not enough to cut through. Didn’t finish chips or even get half way through them. Fries are certainly fried, could taste the oil from the fryer a bit too much, same flavour in the fish fingers, overpowering the sandwich, sadly makes its tastes cheap - something to be aware of. Very small amount of ketchup served in an awkward way to access - for the amount of fries and sandwich. Coleslaw looks better than it tastes, pretty dull. Meal is a big generous portion all together and presentation of meal is lovely! Salad dressing is an odd flavour choice for the rest of the plate, didn’t complement. Hot Drinks - pretty normal choices, nothing to write home about, could do with one or two ‘specials’ on the menu like Spanish coffee orrrr seasonal syrups to create a ‘suprise and delight’ element. Someone was closing the door and latching one side as I was coming in, I guess they were to with the creative department taking photos of the food inside, so wouldn’t necessarily be aware of customers entering? Definitely not greeted on the way in, and ignored when stood and waited at what seems like the greeting point but no one addressed me or gave any eye contact, there was certainly enough staff. It’s a shame not to be greeted. The room is very echoey, need to look into that as the murmur of everyone’s conversation is very loud in the inside space. The music is nice volume but totally lost with everyone’s voices, the place wasn’t near full for this to be the case, very little chill element. It was raining so the only choice was to be inside. Chairs could do with a cushion as they are pretty stark and look uncomfortable without, the only comfortable looking nook / corner, seems to be for a bigger party so one wouldn’t sit there. The decor is clean / nice, clean girl aesthetic. The burger only has a choice of a double patty, otherwise I would have gone with it. Brioche bun and is rather overused ‘new’ and ‘in’ thing - and not too everyone’s taste. The only cheese toastie had chorizo so rather particular strong flavours put together. When I was greeted by male waiter, he said all the right things but was very scripted and took no particular personal interest in his service and didn’t seem to have any passion. I hadn’t finished reading the menu before he wanted my order. Interesting that the aesthetic doesn’t reflect more eccentric, homemade feel of the surrounding small businesses, shops and crafts that I actually had no idea were going to be there! The gentlemen walked past me at least thrice towards the photoshoot without checking how the meal was with me. I may have mentioned only the very prevalent oil / grease taste. I was finally left with my plate infront of me for 20 mins, not taken away. I was going to get a coffee after but decided to try somewhere else and look round the surrounding shops instead. The place wants to be inspired and fresh but is missing the mark in quite a few places. I would come again if I happened to be this way with a friend, but I wouldn’t go out of my way, like today to try it again at the moment.
