Gooseberry Lodge is a single-storey cottage on Rushmore Estate, a private working farm set across 8000 acres of woodland and open ground. Everything is on one level: a combined living and dining space with a sofa bed (suitable for children), a separate bedroom with a king-size bed, shower room, and kitchen equipped for cooking from scratch. Parking for two cars is on site, and one dog stays free.
The estate itself is the draw. Guests have access to coarse fishing, horse riding and an on-site golf course, all included in your stay. The surrounding woodland and grounds are yours to explore. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered. A pub lies about a mile away in Tollard Royal, a medieval village with roots going back centuries.
For those wanting to venture further, Salisbury Cathedral is within reach, as are Stonehenge and Avebury. The location suits both a quiet retreat and a more active break, depending on what you want from the time away. No smoking in the lodge.
