About At Caledonia

Rooms at At Caledonia are kept simple and functional, each with an en-suite bathroom, and a number look straight out over the sea from Queens Promenade. Family rooms are available, drinks can be brought to the room, and a lift serves the upper floors, useful in a converted Victorian building where the original layout still shapes the place.

Breakfast is included and a packed lunch can be arranged for days out, while the on-site bar offers a spot for an evening drink without leaving the building. Other practical touches include 24 hour reception, luggage storage, laundry service, free WiFi throughout and free on-site parking, plus meeting rooms and business services for those travelling with work in mind. Kids' meals are available and pets are welcome.

The guest house sits about 0.6 miles from Douglas Central Beach, with walking and cycling routes nearby, along with golf, fishing and watersports for the more active, and pubs, restaurants and entertainment close by for evenings out. It's a straightforward base on the promenade rather than a luxury stay, suited to guests who want comfort and a sea view without frills.

I have recently just come back from my second visit here. My first visit was because my father had taken poorly over there. Josephine was so lovely and accommodating both times. She helped find room for us all in the hotel and made sure we had everything we needed. She checked on the family regularly and showed lots of compassion. We booked to go back again to just visit the Isle of Man. We spoke to her multiple times on the phone to arrange and re arrange dates and she helped as much as she could. When we arrived she was very welcoming and friendly and had lots of times to chat to us. She even went out of her way to put fresh flowers in our room after our previous visit. The rooms had been updated and were very modern. Everywhere in the hotel was clean! She spoke to us lots over our visit recommending places for us to go and visit in the area. Breakfast was set up beautifully in the dining room. There was a wide variety of selection of both hot and cold breakfasts. Josephine gave great service and was consistently checking if we wanted anything else! At the end of the visit we also got to chat to Jenny who was also very lovely and helpful. She told us all about the family history of owning the hotel. Overall on both of our stays I would say they were both worth 5 stars. I would definitely recommend to other people!

I had originally booked another location on the same street but it was impossible to get information about parking. This place gave me all I needed to know and was a better price. Happy I changed my booking. It's about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Douglas. Room 4 was spacious with a huge bathroom. It's a family room with a small double but we survived. Breakfast is served by a stunning young lady who always had a smile for you. The breakfast was good with unlimited toast too. All in all this is great value for money in a good location

Had a very nice stay there. The only issue was that when I hand-washed my makeup brushes, the water had a distinctive smell and left some residue on them, which made me think the water might be a bit dirty. Anyway, the room was nice!
