About Gowanbrae Bed and Breakfast
Dufftown's countryside setting, ringed by whisky distilleries and open Moray farmland, is the backdrop to Gowanbrae Bed and Breakfast. The house itself is a Victorian property with a garden to sit out in, giving guests a quiet base from which to explore the surrounding hills and glens.
Rooms are relaxed rather than formal, each with an en-suite bathroom, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Drinks are provided in the room, and there's a lounge with a fireplace for evenings in, along with a separate dining room where breakfast is served each morning. Packed lunches can be arranged for days out, and free WiFi and luggage storage cover the practical side of a stay, with 24 hour reception on hand throughout.
Free on-site parking makes it easy to come and go, and the area around Dufftown offers golf, fishing and entertainment, along with pubs, bars and restaurants nearby for evening meals. It's a straightforward, comfortable place to stay while touring Speyside's distilleries and countryside.
What guests say
We were on a 2-week tour around Scotland and booked a night at Gowanbrae B&B. We stayed in 13 separate places during our trip, but Gowanbrae was so nice that we decided to stay an additional night. Steve and Jo were such lovely hosts; I truly enjoyed meeting them both, as they made the stay so comfortable. The location is perfect, right in the center of town, next to the tower. It is also a 10-minute walk to Glenfiddich Distillery. This makes it easy if you would like to go for a tasting. Also nearby is a most impressive Whisky bar at the Whisky Capital Inn. The food there was also top-notch and conveniently located just a 1-minute walk away. Dufftown is such a nice town. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated. It was a real treat to come back after a day of exploring to some fine whisky and great conversation in the lounge. We hope to have another trip to Scotland in the future, and this place is one of the reasons why. Great location, fabulous breakfast and wonderful company.

This holiday in Scotland was our first trip out of the U.S., so we had many learning experiences - aside from all different the traffic quirks. Gowan Brae was a lovely and inviting place to start and end our days in Dufftown - a lovely small town with several distilleries past and present. The B&B is just along one of the main streets (Church) in town perhaps 100 meters south of the clock tower. Jo is very sweet, welcoming and made the most delicious breakfasts - including homemade jams. We were unaware that a twin room sleeps two - with separate twin beds, while a double room also sleeps 2 - with a double/full/queen. When Jo saw my quizzical look when I saw two twin beds she was more than kind to offer an available double room in lieu of the twin room we had reserved. Steve is a fine gentleman who knows his whisky and, to honor your time to enjoy your holiday or whatever plans you may have, he holds back his desire to wax loquacious. He is also keen on punctuality - especially breakfast, as the food is prepared on site and tastes best when fresh. Our time at the Gowan Brae was delightful and the B&B experience was even enhanced by our co-tenants who were also from the U.S.. As this was our first foreign experience, Steve and Jo helped it to not feel that foreign. They were inviting and delightful people who were willing to share information and help however they could with what we might enjoy during our stay in Dufftown. My wife and I would have happily stayed there another week if our schedule had not already been packed. Thank you both, Steve and Jo. It was a lovely time and the Gowan Brae was one of our favorite places we stayed. We wish you both well in your future endeavors.

Outstanding B&B run by perfect hosts Steve and Jo. I was lucky enough to bump into them both at the end of a long day’s cycle from Edinburgh with loosely made plans to camp but a kind mention of an available room was too good to turn down and turned out to be a great choice! Excellent hospitality, a very comfy room and a delicious breakfast. Overall a fantastic stay.
