Dumfries and Galloway
View on Google MapsPhoto: Bonnie Escapes
Dumfries and Galloway's coastline draws people for its wide horizons and shifting light, and the village of Southerness sits right on the Solway Firth with views across to the Lake District hills. Bonnie Escapes – Beeches Bay is a lodge built to make the most of that setting: all ground floor, with patio doors opening onto wraparound decking that faces the water.
Inside, you get three bedrooms (one with a kingsize bed and ensuite toilet, two with single beds each), a shower room, and an open-plan living space with kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, including gas hob and electric oven. Essentials like linen, towels, electricity and wifi are included, along with heating for cooler months. Two cars can park on site. The enclosed decking has garden furniture; a welcome pack of local products is provided. The lodge is non-smoking.
Southerness has a championship golf course and a white lighthouse dating from 1749 (Scotland's second oldest). The beach and village are within reach, and you're positioned to explore further into Dumfries and Galloway's cliff walks, forest trails and coves without a long drive. The on-site swimming pool and seasonal facilities serve the holiday park as a whole.
