Families and groups of up to six will find Burnbank works well as a base. The semi-detached cottage has three bedrooms—two with a pair of single beds, one with a double—and a single bathroom. Downstairs there is a living room with Freeview TV and DVD player, a separate dining room, and a kitchen equipped with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. A utility room contains the washing machine. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; a travel cot and highchair are available. One dog stays free. On-site parking covers one car, and there is a bike store.
The property sits in Kirkgunzeon village with an enclosed lawned garden where a stream runs about ten yards from the house. Dalbeattie lies four miles away, and the landscape around appeals to walkers and cyclists in particular. The 7 Stanes mountain trail and Mabie Forest are nearby; coastal paths lead to beaches seven miles off. Kirkcudbright, known for its galleries and independent shops, is reachable for a day out, as is Castle Douglas with its food scene. The Solway Coast offers sandy beaches and fishing villages. Close by are opportunities for sailing, riding, fishing and golf. The cottage has open, steep spiral stairs. No smoking.
