Cowar Bothy is a single-bedroom cottage near Dalbeattie in Dumfries and Galloway, refurbished throughout and ready to use as soon as you arrive. The ground floor holds an open-plan living, dining and kitchen space with a woodburner, smart TV and all the essentials for cooking—oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. An ensuite shower room and washing machine are also downstairs. Upstairs, the bedroom contains a zip-and-link super kingsize bed (which splits into two singles if preferred) with quality linen, plus a heated towel rail and walk-in shower. Fuel for the woodburner, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included; electricity is metered separately.
Outside, an enclosed lawned garden has seating and furniture overlooking farmland. The property has private parking for two cars and an electric vehicle charging point. One dog is welcome to stay at no extra cost; there is a bike store on site. The cottage suits couples or solo guests seeking peace in countryside surroundings, though it is only a few miles from Dalbeattie, which has shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. The area draws walkers and cyclists year-round, with the 7Stanes mountain bike trails at Dalbeattie Forest nearby. No smoking indoors.

Great place to stay with everything you’d need from a long weekend to a fortnight’s holiday. Great location with excellent views. Spotlessly clean. Just back from a May 26 stay - our first stay and we hope one of many! Cowar Bothy is utterly relaxing & peaceful - your pulse lowers just looking at the views from the windows - the Bothy is so clean - so comfortable - and so very well appointed - EPIC shower & perfect for exploring Dumfriesshire. Scott & Jo are attentive yet inconspicuous hosts - and even for a Mid-May stay the bluebells were out in abundance still. An absolute gem. And we have just booked again!

Absolutely fantastic stay. It’s in a beautiful part of Scotland, very quiet and rural. We had a warm welcome and were very impressed with how the Bothy was presented. Loved the log burner. Very cosy on a winters evening. Highly recommended to anybody who hasn’t yet visited this area. Already booked a return visit. Looking forward to it already.

We have been to Cowar Bothy 3 times and we love it. It has stunning views and is a peaceful and tranquil place to stay. The Bothy is comfortable clean and finished to a high standard. It has everything you need for a perfect stay. Jo and Scott are very welcoming and can’t do enough for you while staying at the Bothy. We would highly recommend Cowar Bothy for people looking for a pet friendly place to stay with good walks and excellent local amenities and beaches.
