Forge Mill Cottage sits in a wooded valley on the edge of Dalbeattie, where a river and stream run through the grounds. The setting is quiet and secluded, yet the town centre is within walking distance, and the Solway Coast with its small villages and beaches lies a short drive away. The cottage was converted from old mill buildings and retains that character, with ground-floor kitchen and dining space alongside two bedrooms and a separate toilet. Upstairs, the sitting room has a window overlooking the water and gardens.
The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer for self-catering. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are included. The first bathroom has a bath and cubicle shower. Outside, there is parking for two cars and a shared garden with sitting areas and furniture. The grounds include an unfenced pond and river, so the cottage is not suitable for children under 12.
Dalbeattie and the surrounding area attracts walkers and cyclists, with woodland paths and the 7Stanes mountain trails nearby. Kippford, a village on the Solway Firth, has walks and a public pier; Rockcliffe next to it has a sandy beach and is linked by a National Trust path. The cottage is no-smoking only.
