Maidenholm - Anvil is a single-storey apartment on the ground floor, accessed by three steps from the entrance. Inside, everything flows together in one open plan: living and dining areas with a freeview TV and DVD player, a kitchen equipped for everyday cooking, and a bedroom with a zip-and-link bed that can be configured as either a superking or two singles. The ensuite has a bath with shower over. The essentials—electricity, bed linen and towels—are included, and there's a welcome pack on arrival.

The apartment sits in a converted riverside mill building, surrounded by wooded valley and shared gardens that look over Dalbeattie Burn. Beyond the immediate setting, Dalbeattie is a base for walkers and cyclists; the 7Stanes mountain bike trails at Dalbeattie Forest are nearby, as are coastal walks, beaches and forest paths. A pub is within a mile. On-site parking holds two cars, and there is a shared laundry room in the basement. The shared garden includes sitting areas and furniture. Children under 12 are not suitable for this property.

This is a place to relax, to explore, and to relax again. The river (Burn) running along side the cottage is exciting in winter, indulgence in the summer. It is mesmerising. Very peaceful here too. Loved it.

Just at the end of a wonderful, stress free holiday in the Anvil cottage. It really is a beautiful location. Georgina gave us a lovely warm welcome on our arrival. Her dad took time to show us round the water lades and gates of the old mill. Our cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable with a great view onto the river. It's a great base to explore the area. Looking forward to coming back here again next year! 👍
