Meal Hoose

Dumfries and Galloway

Photo: Google Maps

Dumfries and Galloway's market towns and forest parks draw walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts year-round. Gatehouse of Fleet sits at the heart of the region, within reach of Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and the Galloway Forest. Meal Hoose occupies the upper floor of a listed stone building that dates to the late 1770s, when it stored salt and grain. The conversion has kept the character of the original while adding modern comfort.

The property sleeps two in a super kingsize bed that can be separated into twin singles on request. Downstairs is a shower room and an open-plan living and dining space; upstairs, the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Heating, electricity, wifi and linen are included. An external utility room stores bikes, and there's a commercial dog wash on site—one dog stays free. Gatehouse itself is just 50 metres away; Garries Park woodland walk is even closer.

The property does not permit smoking. It suits couples or two people travelling together, and those with a dog. A travel cot and highchair can be arranged for infants under two.
