Mill Street

Dumfries and Galloway

View on Google Maps

Mill Street is a former fisherman's cottage on a terraced street in Drummore, the southernmost village in Scotland. The building sits just above the shoreline, a short walk from a sand and shingle beach that opens onto Luce Bay. Three steps lead to the entrance, which opens onto the ground floor living spaces: a sitting room with woodburner, a kitchen with full cooking facilities including dishwasher, and a conservatory. Bedroom 1, also on the ground floor, has a double bed; the bathroom is fitted with a bath and shower. Upstairs, bedroom 2 contains two single beds. The cottage sleeps 4 and takes one well-behaved pet at no extra cost.

Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all included, and initial logs for the woodburner are provided. The enclosed garden has outdoor seating. What makes this location distinctive is the wildlife: the RSPB's Mull of Galloway nature reserve is nearby, where seabirds nest on cliff faces in spring and summer, and the bay regularly hosts harbour porpoises, dolphins, seals, otters and minke whales. Beyond the immediate shoreline, the Rhins peninsula and surrounding Dumfries and Galloway offer serious walking country—coastal paths, forest trails, and the Southern Upland Way—as well as a number of notable gardens within reach. The area remains relatively quiet even in mid-season.
