Families and larger groups will find plenty of space at The Smithy of Longcastle. The cottage has three bedrooms—a king in the master with garden access, another king, and two singles—plus one bathroom, all on a single level. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking proper meals, and the living room has a television and wifi. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included.
The real draw for children is the gardens: lawned space at the front, a sitting area at the back, and room to move around freely. There's parking for four cars and a bike store. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The setting is rural, among farmland, but five miles south brings you to Port William and the Machars coastline with its sandy beaches. Wigtown, known for independent bookshops, is nearby. The Galloway Forest and its mountain bike trails, plus Logan Botanical Garden, are within easy reach. No smoking inside.

Amazing holiday rent - not a cottage but a whole 3 bed bungalow with loads of space inside and large grounds. On a rainy day there's enough space inside for everyone to spread out without getting in each other's way, with decent wifi and an impressively large TV. On good days the garden is great, and it's close to lots of interesting places to explore - I wish I'd brought my bike with me! About 20 minutes away from the 'proper' supermarkets in Newton Stewart, with some local ones closer by (but not within walking distance).

Fantastic hosts, lovely cottage which has recently been renovated and has everything you need, ideal base for exploring the area.
