About Castlewigg Holiday Park
Tucked away near Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway, Castlewigg Holiday Park strikes a welcoming balance between rural peace and practical facilities. The site's strong reputation rests on friendly, helpful owners who clearly take pride in maintaining tidy pitches and spotless shower blocks – reviewers consistently praise the cleanliness. Dogs are welcome, electric hook-ups are available, and there's WiFi when you need it.
The location puts you within easy reach of Galloway Forest Park's trails and the Machars peninsula's rugged coastline, making it a solid base for exploring this quieter corner of southwest Scotland. Some visitors note that facilities, while perfectly functional, feel a touch dated in places, but the warm hospitality and reasonable pricing more than compensate for any lack of modern polish.

What visitors say
It gave us what we wanted: a relaxing stay in a place away from the crowds. And as an added bonus, lots of history from the founding of Scottish Christianity to Mulberry harbours. The caravan was spotless to walk into and looked as if it was refurbished last week. So much light. We are sitting here on a sunny if cold day but I have to open the doors as the sun is generating so much heat. Today's visit to Isle of Whithorn and Whithorn Priory are a highlight. Michelle, our host, had been v helpful.

A small very well maintained holiday park. Very quiet and a great base to explore this lovely area. We stayed at Eden Lodge which was way beyond our expectations, very spacious with absolutely everything you might need including comfortable beds for a good nights sleep. Park staff were very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly with a designated walking area. Dogs on lead during your stay but plenty of off lead walks in the area. Would highly recommend.

The manager is incredibly friendly and helpful. You have to walk 30 mins or drive to get to any pubs or cafes but Garlieston beach is trully stunning and Wigtown (the national book town of Scotland) has a really unique culture. Toilets and laundry room are spotless. Showers are a set tempreture and might be a bit hot for children.
