Bailey Cottage

Couples and small groups will find Bailey Cottage a comfortable base in the village of Staindrop, within reach of Barnard Castle and the wider attractions of County Durham. This single-bedroom cottage sleeps two and gives you the run of the whole place to yourselves. On the ground floor, a living room with a woodburning stove (fuel provided) and a kitchen equipped for cooking sit either side of the main space. Upstairs, a bedroom with a super king-size bed and an en-suite shower room complete the layout. Wifi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included, and one well-behaved pet can stay for free.

The cottage is stone-built and characterful, with original beams and period details throughout. There's on-road parking outside, and the village offers an easy stroll to Langley Beck or the green spaces nearby. For those who don't smoke, the no-smoking policy applies throughout. Within a short drive lie Barnard Castle's independent shops, the railways museums at Shildon and Darlington, and the heritage attractions clustered around Bishop Auckland—including the Spanish Art Gallery and the Bishops Palace. Raby Castle and its deer park are close by, and the area contains historic churches, Roman remains, and the restored Darlington Hippodrome theatre. The Country Tea Shop & Restaurant sits within a mile of the cottage.
