Calf House Cottage

Everything you need for a self-catering break is already here. The cottage sits on a working dairy farm near Sedgefield, with electricity, heating, wifi and bed linen all included. It's a recent refurbishment: ground floor throughout, with underfloor heating, vaulted ceilings and beams running through the open-plan living space. The kitchen is fully fitted with electric cooking, dishwasher and coffee machine. The main bedroom has a double bed and pull-out child bed; the second has two singles with a TV. One bathroom with walk-in shower serves the cottage. You get parking for four cars on site and an enclosed garden with seating.

The farm is a working dairy operation with 300 cattle and robotic milking 24 hours a day. If you're interested, the owners will show you around farm life as it actually happens – wellies and outdoor coats are kept by the door. There's a micro brewery on site with a tap room open the last Friday and Saturday of each month. The cottage suits a family or small group wanting a break in the countryside; no smoking is permitted inside. One dog is welcome at no extra cost.
