This traditional stone cottage dates back generations, occupying an elevated spot above St John's Chapel in the Durham Dales. The building sits within its own enclosed garden, with countryside views across rolling hills and a layout that spreads across two floors. It's the kind of place where wooden beams catch the eye and an open fire anchors the living room, with French doors opening directly onto the garden when the weather permits.
Three bedrooms accommodate six people: a kingsize, a double with a single, and a single. There's one shower room serving the property. The kitchen comes equipped for self-catering, and essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are provided. One car parks on site; one pet stays free. Two steps lead to the entrance, and there's a step down into the garden itself.
St John's Chapel is within walking distance, a village with a pub, café, small food shop and post office. The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the cottage, making it a natural base for the Weardale Way or shorter riverside walks. Cyclists have begun using the alternative C2C route through here. Stanhope, a market town, lies seven miles away by car. No smoking inside.
