Chestnut Cottage

Chestnut Cottage is a detached property where you enter into an open-plan living space that combines lounge, dining and kitchen in one bright room. Upstairs, a galleried bedroom with a double bed and a shower room complete the layout. The ground floor kitchen has everything for self-catering—electric hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and a combi microwave-oven-grill. Wi-Fi, heating and linen are included. Outside, a decked area with garden furniture overlooks the grounds, and there is parking for two cars on site. One dog is welcome here.

The cottage sits 1½ miles from Lanchester, a village with three pubs and restaurants, and ten miles from Durham. Cyclists use the quiet country roads to reach the Derwent Valley Railway Path or the Waskerly Way towards Weardale. Footpaths follow the river Browney south of Lanchester, or head towards Corbridge and Hadrian's Wall to the north. Durham itself has cathedral walks, wine bars and shops. Farther afield, Alnwick Castle and its water gardens are an hour away, as are the coastal villages of Seahouses and Bamburgh, and Holy Island. A pub and restaurant are within walking distance, with a shop 1½ miles away.
