Stanhope sits in the Durham Dales with genuine countryside character. The market town has a working heritage railway, castle ruins, a 320-million-year-old fossil, and enough independent shops and cafés to occupy a rainy afternoon. A pub is within walking distance of Railway Cottage itself. The setting is rural but not remote—Bishop Auckland and its attractions lie a short drive away.
The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom across two floors. Downstairs: a living room with wood burner, and a kitchen-diner with electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge and washing machine. Upstairs: a bedroom with kingsize bed, a second bedroom with zip-and-link twin beds, and a family bathroom with bath and shower. The property is yours alone, and one well-behaved pet stays free. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided, along with initial fuel for the wood burner.
Front and rear patios with seating overlook the gardens. There is parking on the road and a bike store. The cottage accepts one dog or cat. No smoking inside. Check-in is after 4pm, checkout before 10am.
