Mossdale Cottage

East Ayrshire sits between Scotland's wildest interior and its most dramatic coast. Mossdale Cottage is a detached property on the edge of Galloway Forest Park, where 300 square miles of woodland, moorland and lochs stretch inland, and the Ayrshire Coastal Path traces 100 miles of shoreline backed by the mountains of Arran. The area is one of only four designated Dark Sky Parks in the western world, drawing stargazers when darkness falls.

The cottage is arranged on a single level: a living space with woodburner and smart TV, separate dining area, and kitchen with electric oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Two bedrooms each have a zip-and-link kingsize bed (convertible to singles if needed), and there is one shower room. Outside, a private hot tub sits in the enclosed garden alongside seating and tables. Parking for two cars is provided on the property. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included; the woodburner's initial fuel is supplied too. One dog is welcome and stays free, though it must be kept on a lead throughout—there is a fenced river within the grounds. No smoking is permitted.

This suits couples, small families or friends seeking a rural retreat. The Forest Park offers walking and wildlife-spotting; the coast is within reach for the Ayrshire Coastal Path or visits to castles like Culzean and Dunure. In the evenings, step outside to watch the stars from the hot tub.
