Maybole sits at the edge of some of South Ayrshire's most striking countryside, within reach of Galloway Forest Park and the conservation village of Straiton. Freedom Fields – Bracken is a single-bedroom cabin designed for couples seeking seclusion without sacrificing comfort. The entire space is yours alone, with a mezzanine bedroom featuring a kingsize bed and an open-plan ground floor combining living, dining and kitchen areas around an electric wood burner.
The cabin comes with essentials covered: electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi. The kitchen has a hob, microwave-oven combination and fridge-freezer for self-catering. A walk-in shower and heated towel rail serve the bathroom. Outside, a wood-fired hot tub sits on the terrace alongside a firepit and barbecue—ideal for evening stargazing, particularly worthwhile given the area's Dark Sky Park status. The cabin suits adults only and does not permit smoking; one dog is welcome.
Straiton village, within walking distance, has a coffee shop, pub and store. Galloway Forest Park spreads across 300 square miles of valleys, moorland, ancient woodland and lochs, home to red deer, roe deer and birds of prey. The combination of isolation and accessibility makes this a base for both complete rest and active exploration.

We are just back from our second stay at The Bracken pod, where the views and amenities are great all round! Elaine is such a welcoming host, and is there at any time if you need anything during your stay 🥰 The hot tub is great to use all throughout the stay, and is easy to use after a quick tutorial from Elaine! The pod itself has everything you’d need and is very well heated and insulated for the colder Scottish weather! We will definitely be back again ☺️

Had a relaxing valentines weekend at the Heather pod. Beautiful inside and outside..quirky,cosy and so well equipped. Hot tub just the best used everyday. The views and peace were just fantastic,enjoyed a morning coffee sitting outside. We will definitely return. 🍾💛🍸

I stayed in The Heather pod for 2 nights , The chill vibes and views from the pod were amazing. Elaine was so lovely too she was right there to help if needed anything , Definitely planning on returning 🫶🏼

Myself and my partner spent 3 days at the freedomfields glamping pods for our anniversary and had the most relaxing, special time! The scenery was so peaceful, and we particularly loved seeing the animals round about! Elaine was a fabulous host and made sure we were comfortable, well informed and had everything we needed! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful time away and a wholesome trip!
