The setting puts you within reach of genuine draws: the Ayrshire Coastal Path for long walks along cliffs with views across to Arran, the River Ayr Way for a 40-mile river walk, and Galloway Forest Park—300 square miles of valleys, lochs and ancient woodland where red deer roam and the night sky is dark enough to see the stars properly. Culzean Castle and Dumfries House are day-trip territory, as are the links courses at Turnberry and Royal Troon.
Ayr itself, a traditional seaside town, lies a short drive away. Glasgow and Edinburgh are within an hour or so, and ferry routes to Arran, Bute and Cumbrae are accessible. No smoking indoors. Arrival is after 16:00, departure before 10:00.
