Lion House is a single cabin on the Piggles Retreat site near Newmarket, sleeping two in a double bedroom. The entire ground floor is yours alone: an open-plan living space with a smart TV, a kitchen with electric hob and combination microwave-oven, a shower cubicle, and a separate toilet. Essentials like bed linen, towels, heating and wifi are included; there's parking for one car on site.

The grounds hold a boating lake with rowing boats available, a putting green, a treehouse platform with tables, and a barbecue (shared with other cabins). Your private hot tub is attached to the property. The lake is unfenced, so worth noting if you're bringing children. Newmarket itself is known for horse racing—the museum is open to visitors, and you can watch racehorses training on the tracks around town. Cambridge lies within reach for punting and university architecture; the coast at Felixstowe is also accessible for a day out. No smoking throughout the cabin.

We stayed in the Beaver Cabin at Piggles Retreat and had a really great experience overall. The cabin itself was clean, well designed and surprisingly comfortable. The bed was excellent, genuinely one of those places where you actually sleep properly, not just “make do” for a weekend. Everything felt well maintained and thoughtfully put together without being over the top. We didn’t have a hot tub, but the outdoor setup more than made up for it. The BBQ area was great and made it really easy to enjoy the evenings outside. The surroundings are quiet, green and very relaxing, exactly what you want for a short escape from routine. What stood out most was the atmosphere . it’s peaceful, private, and not overcrowded, so it never feels like you’re sharing the space with too many people. It’s the kind of place where you naturally switch off after a few hours. Overall, a really enjoyable stay in a well-run retreat. Ideal for a short break, especially if you’re looking for simplicity, comfort and a bit of calm rather than a packed resort experience.

Where do I begin?! We were very excited to stay here as it looked lovely, but we were not prepared for the reality when we arrived. It was truly incredible, so beautiful and so relaxing. Me and my partner fell in love from the moment we arrived and even said how much we'd love to marry here. The host was so welcoming and friendly, gave us a tour on arrival and you could really see just how passionate he was about his project. We stayed in Bears Cabin which was nestled in nature, beautiful inside, super spacious and had a gorgeous hot tub to top it off. The ONLY thing I'd say is that the cabin was a little dark and the lights inside did little to light up in early evening - but frankly, the stay was so enjoyable that I'd have still enjoyed it even if I had to live by candlelight 🤣 The grounds were a hidden away nature site with ponds, bridges, lighting, putting green, badminton court and lots of different animals - it felt like staying in a little enchanted village, the thought that has gone into this project is amazing. Our private bathroom was gorgeous, and it was a short (but very beautiful) walk to and from the bathroom to the cabin. We were very lucky with some gorgeous weather, but I'd have enjoyed it as equally without as the place was just that special. I also NEED to add, as a nature/animal lover, that there was beautiful flowers everywhere, homemade houses placed for wild birds to nest/sleep, bird feeders, stunning hanging baskets and we noticed that a gosling couldn't get from the water back onto the island and the groundskeeper literally climbed a ladder from the side of the pond, to the island just to dig out a diagonal pathway for them to manage easier. This was the cherry on top of an incredible stay, we cannot wait to come back! Thank you so much 🖤

My friend and I stayed in one of the cabins recently. From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the secluded cosy atmosphere and thoughtful touches throughout the place. The private shower and toilet were a huge convenience, making our stay feel much more comfortable. And of course, the hot tub was the perfect touch – soaking under the stars after a day of exploring was pure bliss. We left feeling completely refreshed and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway.

Absolutely stunning place, we loved our stay at Piggles Retreat. The whole site has been designed with great care, there’s a lake, beautiful natural fields, gazebos, tables and seats to chill and enjoy. The three cabins are all beautifully designed and very welcoming with an outside deck and BBQ. Each cabin has a private, spacious bathroom with showers. There are pubs walks and National Trust sites nearby and lovely cafes at the nearest town (Newmarket). Would love to go back and book all three cabins with our friends and their children.
