Pebbles works well for families wanting direct access to the estuary or for groups of friends seeking somewhere compact to stay together. The cottage is an 18th-century former fisherman's dwelling arranged over three floors: a ground-floor open-plan living and dining space with a kitchen that has everything needed for self-catering, plus a utility room and bathroom; a first-floor double and two singles, along with a separate toilet; and a second-floor single bedroom with low sloping ceilings and a small alcove. It sleeps five in total. Electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi are included, and there is private parking for one car.

Located in Lympstone village itself, the property sits 100 yards from the Exe estuary, which has a sandy play area and rock pools. A small garden with seating faces the street. The estuary is part of a nature reserve and a waypoint on the South West Coastal Path. Within walking distance are pubs, a shop and restaurants. Crealy Adventure Park is three miles away, and cycle routes run along the river towards Exmouth and Topsham. The beach at Exmouth is three miles further. Woodbury Common and Dartmoor are accessible for day trips, as is Exeter. Note that the property has open, steep spiral or narrow stairs throughout.

Ordered £9 pork belly bites (as seen in the picture for a few small scraps), chicken fajitas were dry and only contained a few chunks of chicken, for an £18 dish this was severely poor. All prices are priced at London rates, for food far below London quality. It feels as though the venue is taking advantage of being the only nearby food service (aside from fish and chips) and would fair better by lowering prices to encourage recurring guests. Staff were quick to rectify, and offered a free Pimm's with their apology, we felt the staff were brilliant - but the venue needs to reassess pricing.

Our first meal this season at Pebbles last night, they were extremely busy with the rugby group, but the food was top quality 😋 I was hoping to see more plant based foods on the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Poke Bowl - BUDDHA BOWL - I paid the extra £3 for chicken. It was delicious and packed full of goodness, loads of polyphenols 😃 I will definitely have it again 😍 Regards Suzie Holiday home owner

Lovely setting and great service all round. The host for the evening, Lukasz, I think it was, was 1st class. Very good food and portion size, especially the children's meals. Well done guy's, hopefully we'll see you next summer 😊
