Swallows Cottage is a traditional cob-and-thatch property built in 1594, part of a small working farm below East Hill woodlands. The cottage sits in open countryside with views towards Exeter and Dartmoor, yet remains close to the coast and towns. The setting is rural and quiet, though you may encounter horses, dogs, cats or chickens belonging to the farm.

The accommodation sleeps six across three bedrooms: one with a king bed, one with two singles, and space for two cots if needed. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower. Downstairs holds a living room with a woodburner (initial fuel supplied), dining room and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge and washing machine among the essentials. A separate toilet is also on the ground floor. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included; heating is via Economy 7 and the wood burner. Parking for three cars is on site, and one dog is welcome to stay without extra charge. No smoking is permitted.

The location works for families wanting both beach access and countryside. The Jurassic Coast is four miles away; Sidmouth, Exmouth, Branscombe and Beer are all within reach. The South West Coastal Path and East Devon Way are nearby for walkers. Exeter is a short drive, and Dartmoor and Exmoor are less than an hour away. There is a covered pond ten yards from the property, and the cottage draws water from a natural spring.

We stayed at one Pat and Gill's cottage's before lokdown, in March and had a really enjoyable stay. We enjoyed the complementary wine, the great accomodation and surroundings. A quiet tranquil area. We hope to come back!
