Seaton's mile-long beach lies just two miles away, and the restored railway that runs along the Axe Estuary toward Colyton is even closer. Whitwell Farm Cottages – Ashley's occupies a converted Grade II listed barn on the farm itself, surrounded by 150 acres of fields and woodland where you can watch the animals graze. The Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve borders the property, with viewing hides and accessible paths; Lyme Regis and its seafront are a short drive further on.

The cottage is single-storey, with everything on one level: a living room with a woodburner, a kitchen equipped for real cooking (oven, hob, dishwasher), and two bedrooms each with its own shower room. There's also a separate bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included; logs for the fire are available to buy on site. The property sleeps four and is yours alone – parking is provided for two cars.

The grounds include a children's play area, bike store and enclosed patio. A stream runs through the land unfenced, and there are steps in the garden to be aware of. No smoking is permitted. Nearby you'll find a pub and restaurant a mile away, and shops at a mile and a half.

We had the most wonderful stay in Ashley’s Cottage, the view was amazing, we were very lucky to have woken to see two new lambs in the morning. The owners are extremely nice & helpful. The whole place was clean & homely. We would definitely stay there again & recommend it for a peaceful & relaxing stay.

Stayed in the 5 bedroom barn conversion for 2 nights. Lovely place, comfortable, everything one could wish for in a self catering place, even 2 kettles! Peaceful location, very quiet with a nice view. Maybe a smart TV or a Fire stick/Chromecast were the only possible improvements. Charming hosts too, highly recommend! We will return...

A fantastic cottage set on a farm in rural East Devon. We got comprehensive instructions before we came telling us both what to expect, what was in the area and more importantly how to find the cottage which is down roads no more than cart track width. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the owner who explained to us what we needed to know and where things were and then left us undisturbed for the rest of the week. The cottage is equipped with everything that you could possibly need during your stay, it has a very comfortable bed, nice towels are provided and it is spotlessly clean. The rear of the cottage has a terrace with table and chairs and views over the valley and the farm. The cottage has 2 freeview televisions and good wifi which allowed me to stream sky sports to my tablet, something which I never expected at such a rural location. All in all a perfect place to spend a week in the peace and quiet.
