Eliza Cottage

East Lothian draws people for its golf—there are 19 courses within reach—its beaches, the Lammermuir Hills for walking, and a scatter of castles and historic houses. Eliza Cottage sits on a family farm, detached and single-storey, making it a base for all of this. Edinburgh is 14 minutes by train from Drem if you want a day in the city; Haddington itself, with its shops and restaurants, is a mile and a half away on quiet roads that are good for cycling.

The cottage sleeps five across three bedrooms: a kingsize, a double and a single. One bathroom has a walk-in shower. Everything is on the ground floor except the bedrooms, which are reached by a few steps. The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. A sun room, living room with Freeview and DVD, and a large garden with patio and furniture complete the space. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; parking for one car is on site. No smoking.
