Martindale Shepherds Huts - Blue Bell
East Riding of Yorkshire

Pocklington is a market town on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, within reach of York and a cluster of stately homes and gardens. Blue Bell is a single shepherd's hut on a small site here, set up for two people seeking a quieter base with a bit of luxury. One dog is welcome, provided it stays on a lead while on the working farm grounds.
The hut is a compact, open-plan space with a living area centred on an electric wood-burner, a kitchen equipped for actual cooking (gas hob, full-sized oven, microwave), and a separate bedroom with a double bed. There's a shower room with heated towel rail. French doors open onto a patio where you can sit and use the garden furniture, and your own private hot tub sits to one side. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided, and there's Wi-Fi throughout. Parking for two cars is on site.
The location works for exploring Burnby Hall Gardens and the surrounding countryside on foot or by bike. York is thirty minutes' drive away; Pocklington's independent shops and market square are closer. No smoking inside the hut.

Had a lovely stay in the Mayflower shepherd hut. Me, my wife and Frenchie stayed 5 nights in this cozy hut. The hosts were super helpful and friendly. We found great dog walks close by and York is just under half hour away.

Bit of a last minute booking, that did not disappoint. Lovely location, and beautifully presented shepherd's hut, with some lovely design details. Very thoughtful welcoming package..prosecco, quality biscuits, and fresh milk in the fridge. We loved the chunky wood, little butler sink, cosy double bed, fresh line dried towels, and the great shower room and loo...with a proper vintage cistern and chain pull! Compact little kitchen area, two ring gas burner, kettle and toaster, and small fridge. Well equipped crockery, cutlery etc. Outside, a hot tub(we didn't use), chairs and a fire pit, which we enjoyed. Its peaceful, quiet, adults only, and in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. We're here during the harvest, so everywhere is golden. The roads are long and quiet, the views breathtaking, the Wolds villages quaint and welcoming with many tearooms and pubs competing to outdo each other for delicious home baked cakes and excellent food. But that shepherd's hut amongst the trees is the perfect location.
