What visitors say
Stumbled upon this place by accident, but it ended up being exactly what I wanted! The peacefulness of this place is exactly what i was looking for. The huts are gated off and completely private, noone can see you except the alpacas! Amazing views, a lovely woodland walk, wonderfully comfortable bed. No wifi, but data works intermittently. I also tried booking the alpaca plod, but there wasn't enough people so it was cancelled. Sophie was so amazing and lovely though, she arranged a private meet and great with the alpacas instead, and a refund! They really put the animals welfare at the heart of all this, and they really look after the guests too. Couldn't be more pleased with my stay. I will hopefully come back again, and will definitely be recommending to family and friends!!

I have just returned home from my Hen Do, and the Darling Woods of May hosted our Saturday afternoon activity for 24 hens! We cannot speak highly enough of Sophie and Simon, and the business they run. The farm is beautifully kept, and the Alpacas are so well looked after and loved, which is reflected in the animal’s temperaments. They are just the most gorgeous animals. Sophie and Simon couldn’t do enough for us. They are welcoming, kind and patient. The weather was a little mixed, so they went out of their way to put a gazebo up for our picnic, which was even decorated with flowers and bunting! They had even put a veil and bow tie on Rupert the Alpaca and Mambo the Llama, so I was welcomed to see a Bride & Groom waiting for me! We were given loads of time to meet the animals and take photos, and enjoyed learning all about their different temperaments, before enjoying some Alpaca walks and the agility course. All 24 Hens absolutely loved the whole experience from start to finish - just perfect and so memorable. If you’re wondering whether or not to book - just do it! You won’t regret it. Thank you Sophie and Simon for making it the best day ever. X

Amazing little getaway for my Wife's birthday. Nice and relaxing, with only 2 Shepherd Huts on site. Wood fired hot tub, BBQ and Firepit. I would recommend walking around the site, visiting the Alpacas (they might also visit you in the morning! It was amazing enjoying breakfast with them roaming around outside the hut), also see if you can find the secret place! Lots of amazing wildlife, we saw loads of birds and a particularly keen Robin who seemed to never be away from us, the Alpacas, hedgehogs and a deer! Location is great - it is around 30 minute drive into York, but lots of local little towns are closer (we drove into Pocklington which was around 10 minutes), where you can pick up any required supplies. Some nice little touches from Sophie and Simon - Bottle of wine, tooth brushes and toothpaste provided (I did forget mine so came in handy!), gowns and slippers are provided as well. 100% would recommend.

The location and surroundings are stunning. The Shepherds Hut is luxury ….. so beautifully done with so many added touches. The hosts Sophia and Simon were wonderful and would help with anything you needed. The Alpacas wandered the grounds happily. We did the Alpaca experience with the hosts who shared their extensive knowledge of these beautiful creatures and it was obvious they were well loved. The hot tub was an excellent challenge and we watched the stars whilst enjoying a drink. I would fully recommend and will go back!
