About River Street Camping

Tucked into a peaceful South Downs meadow just outside Westbourne village, River Street Camping delivers proper countryside calm without leaving you stranded. Spacious pitches spread across the grass, many right alongside the shallow river that gives the site its name—perfect for supervised paddling, kayaking or a quick dip on warm days. The quirky heated toilet cubicles and hot showers in a converted horsebox add a surprisingly civilised touch, and reviewers consistently praise how spotless everything is kept.

Friendly staff help maintain the relaxed vibe, while location does the rest. You're five minutes' walk from Westbourne's thatched cottages, traditional pubs and local shops, with footpaths leading straight into the national park from the site boundary. Emsworth's sailing harbours sit 10 minutes away by car; West Wittering's beaches and Goodwood Estate are both around half an hour's drive.

Gas barbecues are fine (off the ground, constantly attended), though charcoal and firepits aren't allowed. If you'd rather skip cooking altogether, there are several welcoming hostelries within easy walking distance—though a few guests note facilities can feel a little tired in places between seasonal refreshes.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Riverside Camping Experience I recently spent a night camping at Riverside Farm in Rudgwick, Sussex, and it was an absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. On arrival I was greeted by a lovely, friendly couple who run the site. They immediately made me feel welcome and took the time to chat and genuinely get to know their guests, which really sets the tone for the whole stay. After a quick introduction to the site, I was shown down to a beautiful field right by the river where campers can choose their own pitch. Being able to pick my own spot overlooking the water was fantastic, and the setting is incredibly peaceful with nature all around. One of the highlights of the location is the access to some wonderful walks. From the campsite you can easily walk along the river and connect to the Downs Link, or take a relaxing stroll towards The Two Bridges — perfect for stretching your legs and enjoying the countryside. For the evening I hired a fire pit and bought a couple of tubs of logs from the site. Both were very reasonably priced and made for a perfect relaxing night by the campfire. The facilities were also excellent — clean, well maintained, and with lovely rustic-style heated toilet cubicles that add to the charm of the place. Overall this is a fantastic little campsite with a welcoming atmosphere, beautiful riverside setting, and great facilities. I would highly recommend Riverside Farm to anyone looking for a peaceful countryside camping trip, and I will definitely be back again. Dont believe me, check out my video on youtube which cover’s my stay, search for our channel "Our Family Outdoors" Kind regards Robbie

Stayed here for two nights camping, the location is beautiful, camping and motorhome pitches nestled alongside a slow moving river. Really relaxing place to spend time. The services available for a campsite are brilliant, quirky decorated showers and bathrooms, animal pens containing goats which seemed friendly... Overall a fantastic site and the owners were all very friendly, polite and helpful. My only issue... And issue seems too strong of a word for it... Is that your can hear the road from the site, but as I usually go wild camping this send like a fair trade off for such a great spot with great utilities. 5/5 would visit again

We had the best stay here with our two kids and a group of friends in May. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect spot to escape for a few days. The campsite is right on the river, which the kids absolutely loved. They spent hours paddling and exploring. The whole place has a relaxed feeling with plenty of space. Facilities were always spotless. The owners and staff are amazing - very friendly. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend for a family camping trip.

We had a lovely stay. The hosts were incredibly friendly and supportive. The scenery was beautiful, we camped right by the river. Excellent facilities, particularly the themed toilet (that were super clean and smelled lovely). Was a short walk into town, and we also visited a brewery and farm shop nearby that were recommended by the staff. Thank you for welcoming us. We will definitely be back
