About Hever Camping

Tucked away half a mile from Markbeech village, this family-run site has been in the same hands for over a century – sisters Sarah and Gina know the area inside out. The farm was once part of the Hever Castle estate, and those grand grounds remain an easy 20-minute walk away, making this an excellent base for history buffs and Garden of England explorers alike.

Choose between Farm Field, with hot-water washing-up and toilets, or the more secluded Pond Field (toilets, cold water only). Kids enjoy the woodland, climbable trees and Wendy house, while anglers can try their luck for carp and roach in the on-site pond. Reviewers praise the spacious pitches, clean facilities and hot showers, plus the on-site food truck serving tasty, reasonably priced fare. The atmosphere is genuinely peaceful – though you're only a 10-minute stroll from Markbeech's pub and farm shop, and Cowden station is 20 minutes away for direct trains to London Bridge in under an hour.

I have just returned from three amazing nights at Hever camping. I had orginally planned to stay in the quieter Pond field which is set in another field about half a mile from the main site but was advised on arrival i would be the only one up there and the main field was very quiet so ended up making the sensible decsion to stay in the main field nearer to all the faciltys including the wonderful Wheelers Wagon which provides what can only be described as top quality, very well cooked but also very resonably priced hot and cold food. I certainly made the right decison not to bring my cooking equipment because even if i did i wouldnt have used it. My only regret was i didnt get to try more of the menu. The camping is just how i like it. A large well kept field with plenty of space although id imagine it does get busier there is adequit space so you would not be on top of each other. The toilet and the shower faciltys are basic but very clean and well kept at all times. What more do you need when on a trip like this. Fire pits were provided free of charge which was a nice touch. With the journey taking just over an hour from London by train i will be sure to visit again for another quiet get away. Thank you for a wonderful few days

Our favourite campsite ever! Hever camping is an absolute gem of a place. Completely back to basic camping-exactly as it should be. They are so generous in terms of what you get in space, kindness and freedom! No pitch numbers, no extensive rules, no frills. They are in a fantastic location- perfect to visit hever castle and or penhurst place. A gorgeous, short, walk to the rock pub via the fields. We came here several times before and now take our very young son with us, confident that we’re far away enough from other campers that we’re not worried our very early riser will wake anyone else. They have a fantastic onsite food wagon serving great quality, very reasonably priced food and drink. It really is the place our souls are the happiest and most rested- a slice of heaven! We can’t wait to watch our boy have many’a happy camps here 🩵

Great location, large field with free choice of spot, it was mid week and quite, great food truck, clean basic facilities. Only issue is the site is on the overfly path for Gatwick, during the day is not really a problem, at night until midnight is is noisier, but ear plugs or large amounts wine work a treat. Would recommend for a short stay, and just to pop in for the breakfast if passing.

Beautifully situated site with very friendly owners. The food truck is definitely a plus for me. Delicious food, good coffee, and ice cream, all at a fair price. The sanitary facilities and showers are always clean. This campsite is now my regular stop when I'm traveling through England to Scotland or back to Dover.
