Campsite near Maldon in Essex countryside with shower facilities.
About Harleyford Estate Ltd
Harleyford Estate is a campground in the flat, quiet landscape of central Essex near Maldon, where the land gives way to saltmarsh and tidal creeks. The site sits within agricultural surroundings that stretch toward the coast a few miles south, where the Blackwater estuary opens to the North Sea. The landscape here is one of wide horizons and working farmland, very much the Essex interior.
The site has shower facilities for guests. Maldon itself, known for its seafaring heritage and the annual barges race, is a short drive away and offers shops, pubs and a waterfront walk. This is countryside that feels genuinely removed from built-up areas, though not remote—a place where campers can settle into the rhythms of a rural corner of Essex.

Lovely tucked away part of the river chelmer, the weir pond behind the lock is an excellent place to paddle, and there's a portage point

I went kayak there. It is a nice litle river channel to walk and enjoy time with nature. I hope you will love the pictures.

Great place to start off a lazy paddle on the River Chelmer. It gets very busy with parking on a small lane so get there early. Nice grass area next to the lock to set up with a short walk down to a small launching jetty if you are setting off downstream.

Lovely location, shame no caff. You need to drive up river one lock for a large cafe/toilets etc.
