Lough Erne Resort

We recently organised a golf trip for a group of 25 and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Dawn was fantastic to deal with from start to finish – friendly, professional and always happy to help with any questions we had. The group stayed overnight, played on two amazing golf courses, and everything was organised perfectly. The accommodation was comfortable, and both the dinner and breakfast were absolutely lovely. Every detail was taken care of, making the whole experience completely stress-free. As someone who works in hospitality myself, I know how much hard work, organisation and effort goes on behind the scenes to make a trip like this run so smoothly, and it definitely didn’t go unnoticed. Dawn and the team should be very proud of the service they provide. Everyone in the group had a fantastic time, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. We’ll definitely be back!

After last night’s experience at Harvey’s Point we were hoping that the Lough Erne Resort might be better. But no it is another 21st century hotel built to look like a 1970 American Hilton. Location is great but the architect really missed a trick on the internal furnishings. Maybe they thought golfers don’t care about their surroundings as long as they can play golf? Stupidly, We went for the fine dining 5 course option. This turned out to be very mediocre cuisine which was truly uninspired. Duck breast with a small jug of red wine jus is not fine dining. The dinner was a lower standard than Harvey’s point. We won’t make the fine dining mistake tomorrow night when we move on to Newcastle. I wonder what breakfast has in store. On reflection I always find that establishments who add on a tip automatically are always below par. Take note yourselves. I would also question with the UK minimum wage at £12:71 why should we tip? Tipping is a US custom to reward poorly paid staff for good food and service. Not well paid UK staff. The staff were very friendly as we have come to experience wherever we go on the island of Ireland

A totally golf resort . No room for others.. Bar was cold in decor. Food ( in the Bar) very Expensive and poor .. service only ok . I felt the staff were just nice students and definitely not professional. Breakfast was nice in a nice room. Parking handy. Worst thing was that there was no air-conditioning, just a horrible fan and the windows were safety locked.. only opened a few inches... The swimming area to Lough was poorly maintained..

Beautiful hotel with absolutely stunning surroundings and a newly decorated room—honestly, it was perhaps the nicest suite I have stayed in for some time. However, the mattress surprisingly felt like nothing but springs, though I may have just been unlucky in that regard. Overall, it was a decent stay for the price paid, but the experience fell short in several key areas. The staff were pleasant enough but felt inexperienced, delivering service more akin to a 3-star establishment than a 5-star hotel. They weren't overly attentive or particularly welcoming, especially at reception and in the bar area. When I inquired at reception about boat hire, I was simply redirected to the Manor House Hotel with no alternative suggestions. Only when I pushed further about excursions was I told that one had departed earlier that day. While it was my fault for missing it, the nonchalant, disinterested tone made every interaction feel like an inconvenience. In the bar area, this was mirrored by an outdoor lunch table left uncleaned for over four hours (I passed it at lunch time and again at dinner)—an astonishing sight for a luxury resort. The food at the Loughside Bar and Grill was average but came with a premium price tag; the Thai chicken curry was £26 and completely unmemorable. The breakfast buffet was similarly disappointing, featuring undercooked bacon, overcooked black pudding, and a choice between cheap filter coffee or a £4.50 Nespresso. It was edible, but again, more akin to 3- or 4-star catering. The spa also left much to be desired, but having visited before, I didn't expect much. It was grand and did the job, so no major complaints there. Despite these shortcomings, I think I would return simply because the grounds and rooms are so stunning. It is a beautiful part of the world and the price was quite reasonable. Next time, I will just temper my expectations for the food and service, and hope for a better mattress!
