Rockview

Cellardyke is a working fishing village where the High Street still has its local shops and bars, and Rockview sits among the stone terraces facing the water. Originally a grocer's shop, this ground-floor apartment opens directly onto views across the Firth. The village pub stands 25 yards away; a restaurant is 50 yards further on. Anstruther, half a mile, has a wider choice of cafes, restaurants and a harbour where boat trips run to the Isle of May.

The layout is straightforward: two bedrooms (one double, one twin), a shower room, and an open-plan living area with a kitchen at one end. The kitchen has a full cooker, dishwasher and microwave, so you can cook properly or grab something quick. There's a woodburner for colder days, Freeview and a DVD player for evenings, and a wide balcony with outdoor furniture where the light lasts longest over the water. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included; logs for the stove are provided.

St Andrews lies 10 miles inland if you want golf courses or more substantial shopping. This is a working village rather than a resort, so it suits people who want a coastal base without crowds, and somewhere to cook and settle in for a few days rather than flit between attractions. No smoking inside the property.
