Lovely garden and grounds, it's a nice walk down to the lower property. If you are older or in a wheelchair there is a choice of routes one a little less steep but don't miss going down it's well worth it as you get some great views across the lake and the gardens. The house is open to view and is.nice to browse.

Beyond just the castle and gardens being beautifully picturesque and stunning, the amount of information available in the house. The volunteers and staff go above and beyond, there's a small bookshop and cafe and garden tours as well. A special thanks to Di for showing us around it was fantastic how knowledgeable she was even though there was only my partner and I showing us the conifers knees and all the little things that made the day so special. I had gone as a fan of black butler and was astounded by how many extra things there were and what the staff knew including I believe Callie and another member of the visitors point. Absolutely great day out and will be visiting every season. You can tell how much they love spending their time there and it's hard to ignore that passion!

The house has real depth to it, with detailed displays that help bring the history of the property and its occupants to life. Unlike some historic houses, it feels lived in rather than simply preserved, making it easier to connect with the people who once called it home. The gardens are pleasant and well maintained, but the real highlight is the combination of the mansion and the romantic castle ruins below. It genuinely feels as though you’re getting two properties for the price of one. The grounds are a joy to explore on a sunny day, with plenty of opportunities for a leisurely walk and picturesque views throughout the estate. Facilities are good overall. The café serves a decent coffee and benefits from plenty of outdoor seating, while the shop is well stocked, if not especially large. The second-hand book collection is particularly impressive and well worth browsing.

This is a beautiful place packed with history and lovely to photograph. There is a manor house and a castle in the grounds. You can walk the perimeter of the castle through lush gardens. Don't miss the ice shed in the grounds. This is one of the nicest places we have visited in the South of the UK.
