The Jolly Boat

Families and groups of up to 10 will find The Jolly Boat works well for a gathering that needs space to spread out. Five bedrooms sleep a mix of adults and children—two kingsize beds on the ground floor, a double, bunks for children, and two singles. There are two bathrooms to share, and the kitchen is properly equipped for cooking proper meals rather than holiday shortcuts: electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and the rest. A wood burner heats the living room. The enclosed rear garden has a patio, furniture and an electric barbecue.

What makes this place different is its setting alongside the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch narrow gauge railway. The immediate surroundings are open fields and a quieter part of the Kent coast. St. Mary's Bay—a sandy beach—is a 10-minute walk away, past a pub and shops. Cyclists and walkers use the area frequently. Essentials like wi-fi, bed linen, towels and heating are provided; the first load of wood for the burner comes with the booking. There is parking for three cars on site. The property does not accept hen or stag parties.
