Marlie Holiday Park

First came to Marlie as a kid when it was a farm and campsite. Last stayed 15 years ago, camping with my daughter. Recently returned for a more active adult holiday. It has changed over these years! PROS: Welcomed as a solo traveller (out of peak season). Easy booking, friendly and welcoming check in. The Park is very clean and well maintained (cannot vouch for swimming pool or activities). Gold caravan, very well priced for the budget conscious with accommodation clean and comfortable. Well appointed village a short walk away for supermarket, takeaways and all household basics. Centrally located on the haunting and beautiful Romney Marsh, ideal as a base for active exploring of the close to 100 square miles of open countryside and quaint villages. Easy route from site to bus stop on a main route for those who do not drive. CONS: No easy walking route to the beach (blocked by a golf course), transport required. Great location if you love golf though! Clubhouse prices a bit steep (£5.10 for a pint of mixer tap coke) and the fresh baked pizza tasted like it had been sourced at the local supermarket (and might have been better and more cheaply sourced from the nearby takeaways). It is unfortunate to see that Park Holidays as a company have done away with so many of the campsites they ran in the county; not everywhere needs to be a sea of luxury lodges and I am sure this is damaging to local economies that rely on the holiday trade too. On the whole though I would recommend a trip to Marlie Park and would consider returning again.

Going home today after a 4 night stay and have really enjoyed my time with my family. Don't be put off by negative reviews. Honestly, we paid an amazing price and what a treat. Staff are amazing, helpful and friendly, park is clean, food is fairly priced. There is a beautiful beach at dymchurch and a beautiful nature walk on site. Not as big as some sites but was peaceful and we had plenty enough to do for the 3 days.

Had a really lovely time here the weekend! The staff were friendly, the caravan was clean and the park was quiet and safe! The swimming pool was clean and they have sessions you need to book in advance, only downside was a rowdy caravan pumping music very loud and drinking booze outside the van which was a bit of a turn off, however they were enjoying themselves and I’m glad my caravan wasn’t next to theirs! I would come back again for sure! The kids enjoyed it and it was pleasant x

We stayed for the Easter weekend after booking a last-minute break away, and overall had a really good time. The park was clean, well laid out, and especially suitable for dogs, which made things much easier with both a dog and a child in tow. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the wait times at the bar were never too long. A big shout-out to Mitch, who despite losing his voice still performed and made sure everyone had a great time. Also, young Robbie behind the bar deserves a mention as he was always smiling, friendly, and incredibly efficient. By the end of the weekend he even knew my order, so I didn’t need to ask each time I went up (not sure if that’s a good or bad thing!). There were just a couple of minor downsides. Easter Saturday felt a bit underwhelming in terms of entertainment, with a lack of stalls, no bouncy castle as advertised and a slightly flat atmosphere. That said, the Easter egg hunt was fun (Well done Mitch, we got there in the end), and the chocolate egg at the end definitely made up for it. The other point would be the food options in the clubhouse. While it was fine, it leaned heavily towards deep-fried, beige choices. It would have been nice to see some lighter options like salads maybe even something simple like a Caesar salad to mix things up a bit. Aside from those two points, we had a great time as a family. Would we return? Yes, we probably would.
