About The Southcliff
Step into a room at The Southcliff and, for many, the first thing to greet you is the sea view stretching out over the Leas. Beds are comfortable and the 68 rooms are set up for a relaxed adults-only stay, with drinks available in room and a lift for easy access throughout the building. That said, maintenance is not always consistent, and some rooms show their age more than others.
Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar for meals and drinks without leaving the building, along with breakfast, free WiFi and a garden to sit out in. The hotel also has meeting rooms and business services, plus space for weddings, and free on-site parking is included for those arriving by car.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the hotel represents solid value for the location. The Leas promenade puts golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes nearby within easy reach, alongside pubs, restaurants and entertainment for evenings out. Do note that booking arrangements have occasionally been reported as inconsistent, so it's worth confirming details ahead of arrival.

Location is great with close access to the beach and shops, free WiFi and comfortable beds. However, the bathtub had no plug so I could not fill it for a bath (shower only), there was also no hot water from the sink tap, a large crack noted to the base of the toilet so these are some areas that need fixing. No in-hotel restaurant but there are restaurants nearby. There was a dead seagull on the roof when viewed from the room window which was not a pleasant view.

5* for value, cleanliness and friendly service. The decor can kindly be described as "tired", but my room had quality bedding, a lovely view over the town, and was in fact the most spotlessly clean hotel room I've had in years. For 30 quid a night I was a bit nervous, but it was a great choice. Lovely staff too

Excellent value for money, clean rooms, perfect location. It sounds like the new owners have ambitious plans to bring the whole place up to scratch (It's old and scruffy in many of the public areas). Happy with our two-night stay on a budget.
