Cider Press Cottage

Forest of Dean

The Forest of Dean offers serious scope for outdoor days: cycling trails wind through ancient woodland, the River Severn is four miles away for fishing and riverside walks, and the Dean Heritage Centre sits virtually on the doorstep. Tintern Abbey and the Dean Forest Railway are close enough for a morning or afternoon trip. Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth, Chepstow and the cathedral cities of Gloucester and Hereford are all within easy driving distance for those who want to venture further. Oldcroft village, half a mile away, has shops, pubs and restaurants.

Cider Press Cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms: a kingsize on the ground floor with an accessible wet room (shower, grab rail, shower seat), a kingsize on the first floor, and two singles. There is a separate bathroom upstairs with a bath. The ground floor layout works well for families with younger children or anyone with mobility considerations; the living room opens onto the enclosed garden and patio, and the kitchen is equipped for self-catering with a dishwasher, electric oven and hob, and washer dryer. One dog stays free, and the enclosed garden gives them a safe place to run. Bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. There is parking for two cars on site, and a cot and highchair are available. The property does not permit smoking.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Hosts are very welcoming and friendly. The cottage was clean and so well equipped, it had everything we needed and more. So many places to explore right on your doorstep. The dogs and us humans absolutely loved it.

Warm welcome and well equipped. But lots of big as in built up over a long time cobwebs also had to wash grill pan before we could use it as it was full of grease. Wet room not really big enough for a wheelchair user to use the shower. Still nice place but I would say not that good if your party contains a wheelchair user good base to explore surrounding area.
