About Deanwood Caravan and Camping

Tucked into the edge of the Forest of Dean near Lydney, this peaceful campsite offers direct access to woodland footpaths—meaning you can step from your pitch straight onto trails alive with birdsong and wildlife. It's a proper walkers' paradise, and dogs are very welcome, with their own dedicated off-lead exercise field. The modern heated shower block keeps toes warm, while communal facilities include washing-up areas, a fridge-freezer, and launderette.

A mile's stroll brings you to Yorkley village for supplies and a dog-friendly pub. The compact Forest of Dean means most attractions sit within 10–15 minutes by car, while the Wye Valley's dramatic scenery—including Symonds Yat—is half an hour away. Lydney, three miles off, offers indoor and outdoor pools, shops, and restaurants. Pitches range from non-electric grass spots in Bluebell Field to premium gravel-and-grass tourers with hook-ups, though some hedgeside pitches are sloping. Facilities can feel a touch worn in places, but the forest-doorstep location more than compensates.

We've just returned from a fantastic 3-night stay and will definitely be back. The site is beautifully kept, peaceful and in an excellent location for exploring the Forest of Dean. The facilities were always clean, and having the freedom to choose our own pitch made a huge difference. We were able to pick a shady spot, which was perfect during the heatwave. It's a great base for exploring the local area, with plenty of lovely woodland walks nearby. Our Cavapoo, Scout, had the best time and loved every minute. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, and overall we had a brilliant stay. We'd happily recommend Deanwood to anyone looking for a peaceful campsite in the Forest of Dean. I think that's a genuine five-star review because, despite the heatwave, every issue you had from your first camping trip had been solved, and you came home talking about when you'd return rather than if you'd return. That's usually the sign of a great campsite. 😊🏕️🌲🐶

A very enjoyable stay. Great access for mountain biking and hiking, straight into parts of the forest and 40 minutes ride to the Forest Centre. The cottages are very well maintained and some freshly refurbished. Has everything you need included and more. The sports hall addition was a joy. Our hosts could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Such nice people to deal with. Flexible and efficient. Top notch.

I've stayed here 3 times now, each time for the Puppy School conference and I've always been really impressed with the venue. The rooms are lovely, the grounds are clean and in a wonderful setting and it's the perfect place for staying for a holiday or if you are holding an event. It's very dog friendly too with some great woods to walk around directly from the venue. Highly recommend.

Perfect campsite, especially for those travelling with dogs. Little pricier than what I'm used to, but well worth it. The facilities and location were excellent. The toilet, shower and pot wash facilities were immaculate and Geoff was a wonderful host, greeting us with a bag of mini eggs at our tent and directions to the nearest pubs! We also enjoyed watching the calves have their breakfast each morning 😊
